School travel co-ordinators face many challenges going into the new decade, and from September 2009 these will be exacerbated by the continued roll-out of 14-19 Diplomas.
The various elements of the Diploma courses require learners to travel between institutions, often out of school hours and across service boundaries, which presents fresh issues for school travel co-ordinators, such as:
• Cost-effectiveness
• Providing for disadvantaged learners
• Behavioural issues
The conference will examine the likely implications of increased demand for transport services caused by the continued roll-out of 14-19 Diplomas, and look at successful initiatives from local authorities that can form the basis of sustainable solutions.
