First call for abstracts

Delegates are invited to submit abstracts for workshop presentations and poster contributions to be presented at the conference. These will be submitted to either the Academic or Policy & Practice Committees.

Academic Committee

Will review abstracts from researchers examining any aspects of care and caring, and contributing to evidence-based policy and practice.

Policy and Practice Committee

Will review abstracts from practitioners and policy makers, exploring drivers and tools for change, and sharing good practice in promoting the interests of families and carers and providing personalised support.

Workshops will include a mix of academic and policy and practice papers focusing on related areas.

The conference programme is organised around four themes, each of which will particular explore aspects of care and caring.

A. Health, Social Care and Well-being
B. Caring and Employment
C. Funding and Financial and Legal Support
D. Technology, Design and the Built Environment

When you submit your abstract, you should indicate which of these four themes you wish apply to. You will also be asked to indicate whether you wish your contribution to be considered by the Academic or the Policy & Practice Committee.

Abstracts, in English, must be submitted between 1 June and 31 December 2009. Your abstract, of between 250 and 300 words must include the following:

Abstracts offering contributions based on research and/or policy or practice developments at both national and international levels are welcomed.

Submission of abstracts is restricted to two per person. By submitting an abstract, authors are assumed to give their consent and authorise the organisers to publish the abstract and include it in the official conference documentation.

Review and acceptance of abstracts
Abstracts will be selected based on their contribution to academic or policy and practice debates, their attention to innovation and/or change, and/or any new perspective they offer. While abstracts may be accepted as submitted, the organisers may also invite some proposers to make modifications and re-submit prior to acceptance.

The review committees' provisional decisions will be communicated to proposers by email approximately 3 months after submission, and in all cases by 12 March 2010. Final acceptance will be sent only when the submitter has confirmed their participation in the conference.

Conference registration
Submission of an abstract does not constitute registration for the conference. All proposers/presenters are required to register and pay the conference fee.
Facilities for the display of posters will be available during the conference; each workshop session will be scheduled to include four presentations, with presenters each allocated 20 minutes.
