5th National Conference
Supporting Creative Industries 2010
Tuesday 15th June 2010, Central London
As the UK begins to emerge from recession, there has been much discussion about the shape of the future economy. Creative and cultural industries are finally getting the recognition they deserve in these discussions, employing as they do almost 2 million people and generating export earnings of around 16 billion pounds.
However, despite impressive industry growth, graduates are still struggling to find work in the sector. Employers still feel that graduates are leaving Higher Education without the right skills to succeed, and HEIs still feel that students are arriving without the necessary skills to get the most out of their courses.
Moreover, the rapid growth of digital technology has brought with it both great opportunities and great challenges for the creative and cultural industries. Our education system must now produce both technical and artistic skills to support creative endeavour.
This conference will bring together thought leaders and from government, industry and education to provide strategic direction on these issues, and experienced practitioners to guide you in the implementation of new ideas.
