Although the overwhelming majority of people in Britain feel positive about living in diverse communities with people from different backgrounds, there are still some new and complex challenges that require national and local action to ensure inclusion and tackle community tensions.

The recent response to the review and recommendations by the Commission on Integration and Cohesion shows the governments commitment to promote better community relations and cohesion. With greater central government support and the announcement by Communities Secretary Hazel Blears of a £50 million investment over the next three years, local authorities will be able to respond to their own challenges focusing on managing new migration or promoting cohesion between people from different backgrounds.

Following the success of last year's conference, this 4th annual community cohesion conference will bring together delegates from government, local authorities, community groups, police and other key stakeholders and is a must attend for those committed to making our diverse communities more cohesive.
