Offender Management
2010
Reducing re-offending in
partnership
Annual one day conference
Tuesday 8th June 2010
Cavendish Conference Centre, London W1
With
approximately 7 out of 10 offenders re-offending within two years of
release, and 15% of juveniles go into custody for at least the third
time, re-offending is estimated to cost the UK between £7 billion
to £10 billion per year.
Crime
can have a devastating effect on the lives of victims, families and
communities. Breaking the cycle of re-offending requires improved integrated
partnerships to harness the potential of central and local criminal
justice agencies, the third and private sectors.
Successful
strategies from the National Reducing Re-Offending Action Plan
, Working with the Third Sector to Reduce Re-offending
, and The Scaled Approach have made progress
towards achieving national and Local Area Agreement targets. However,
post election leadership will come with new pressures to readdress resources
and funding when striving to achieve ‘more with less'.
With
contributions from leading experts in the field, this conference brings
together representatives from all corners of the criminal justice arena,
to build on achievements and innovative best practices by increasing
dialogue between stakeholders in the management of offenders.
