PURPOSE OF THE CONFERENCE
This one day conference will:
- Learn how public spending cuts will affect educational activities
- Maintain high quality services to reduce re-offending rates
- Match employers with ex-offenders
- Hear advice on keeping staff motivated during uncertain times
- Plan for changes to funding streams
- Understand changes in curricula and their outcomes for increased
employability in a recession
- Prepare for the implementation of QCF in September 2010
- Understand Unique Learner Numbers and how a unitised credit structure
will support the learner and overcome obstacles to gaining qualifications,
such as abrupt transfer between prisons
- Deliver post-sentence support for offenders and increase prospects
for employment
- Explore the new responsibilities of Local Authorities for FE and
YP provision
- Benefit from the findings of the regional pilot schemes for curriculum
and qualifications changes
- Prepare for hurdles and opportunities for a national online virtual
campus for offenders
- Gain practical tools for hte implementation for new frameworks and
enhancing offender learning through a choice of seminars on:
- Substance abuse and ETE
- The Qualifications and Curriculum Framework
- Effective IAG for offenders
- Sustainable employment for offenders
