6th Annual
Restorative Approaches
Conference
Thursday 28th January 2010
Grand Connaught Rooms, London WC2B
Approaches to youth justice
and community conflict resolution rely heavily on police targets and
“bringing people to justice”. This has resulted in high numbers of arrests
for low-level offences, mainly of children and young people. The government
is now trying a number of community-based judicial initiatives, across
England and Wales, that can help reduce anti-social behaviour and neighbourhood
conflict.
Restorative approaches can
be used as an alternative method to reach long-term solutions. This
annual conference will provide an opportunity to hear the latest policy
developments and learn from good practice examples how restorative techniques
can help reduce re-offending and the use of custodial sentences for
low-level offences, as well as solve conflicts in our communities and
schools.
