PURPOSE OF THE CONFERENCE
This one day conference will:
- Understand the importance of enhancing the position of careers education
in schools and colleges
- Discover how effective IAG will play a part in Raising Participation
Age strategies
- Hear how the 14-19 reform agenda will increase the demand for IAG
from year 7 onwards
- Look at the upcoming Ofsted inspections, which will examine how
well learners are guided and supported
- Understand the impact of Local Authorities taking on the responsibility
for commissioning and the funding for the IAG services
- Examine the opportunities to enhance services by developing stronger
regional structures and creating an all-age strategy for information,
advice and guidance
- Understand the contribution of IAG to the achievement of the five
Every Child Matters outcomes
- Benchmark the status and quality of IAG arrangements in their local
area
- Hear how, through a range of good practice case studies, the status
and quality of local IAG can be improved
- Examine the effectiveness of the recent changes to secondary curriculum
which sees careers education grouped with work-related learning and
financial capability
- Create and enhance partnerships between local authorities, industry
and higher education for work related learning
- Hear what support and resources are available to support the roll-out
of 14-19 reforms through the IAG Support Programme
