Information, Advice and Guidance
for Young People
National Conference
Tuesday 23rd March 2010
Inmarsat Conference Centre, London EC1
The
following delegates are already registered to attend IAG for Young People:

- Head of Service: Learning Access and Policy Development - Lancashire
Student Services
- 13-19 CEIAG Strategy Manager - Connexions Leicestershire
- Head of Programme and Policy - British Youth Council
Effective information, advice
and guidance has never been so cruicial. The unemployment rate is at
its highest for almost a decade and jobs for university graduates are
in decline.
In light of the government's
recent white paper 'Quality, Choice and Aspiration', this judicious
conference will bring together policy and decision makers, education
leaders, govenors, head teachers and careers co-ordinators, to examine
the new funding arrangements and obligations, the challenges in local
communities and to hear how information, advice and guidance has a central
role in building skills, informing parents and tackling the effects
of the economic downturn.
Local Authorities, secondary
and even primary schools will have a crucial role to play in providing
a personalised service to each school child and offer advice to parents.
With government reviews of
the quality and effectiveness of IAG projected for the next two years,
Local Authorities and schools will have to strengthen their offers and
work together to ensure criteria are met.
This year's conference is
set to be the most popular yet, with delegates from a variety of backgrounds
and locations registering. See below for a sample of already registered
delegates:
- Head of Advice, Guidance and Admissions - The Bournemouth and Pool
College
- IAG Development Manager - Integrated Youth Support Services
- Head of Youth Service and Commissioning - West Berkshire Council
- Headteacher - Chingford Foundation School
- 13-14 CEIAG Strategy Manager - Connexions Leicestershire
