8th Annual National
ADMISSIONS TO HIGHER
EDUCATON
CONFERENCE
New pressures, new solutions
"....anyone who has the academic ability and ambition should have the opportunity to go to university"
David Willetts MP, Minister of State for Universities and Science
Tuesday 19th October 2010, Cavendish Conference Centre, London W1
The current cap on student numbers has made the admissions process crucial, not only to a university's reputation, but to its financial security.
UK institutions are facing more than £22 million in fines for over-recruitment in 2009-10 and HEFCE has recently warned that funding reductions made this year could become permanent.
This important national conference will address these issues using the lessons learnt from the current academic year, advising institutions on how to fill places whilst avoiding fines.
It will also examine the applicant experience and how students with differing qualifications can prepare for university admissions.
2010 sees the first intake of Diploma students and with universities having to compare an ever-greater variety of UK and international qualifications, distinguishing between applicants has never been more difficult.
Bringing together an audience of senior managers from HE, FE and schools, this event will give you the tools you need for success in an increasingly challenging marketplace. It will look at best practice in widening participation, fairness and accessibility in the applications process, and ask how demand can be managed efficiently to ensure the best outcome for both students and HE institutions.
