The Higher Education sector is becoming increasingly stratified, as funding changes increasingly mean that no institution can deliver to all students. All institutions must choose their future market segment and unique University Selling Points. Timed at the beginning of an important year, which includes the review of student finance and fees, the Summit will provide a comprehensive update on the latest policy issues, from the incoming Research Excellence Framework to the next steps after the DIUS commissioned Higher Education reviews.
The Summit is a unique opportunity to hear from leading national and international commentators on the key policy and strategic challenges facing Higher Education institutions. The day provides excellent networking opportunities and allows UK institutions to compare themselves with the best in the world and hear how others are tackling the dilemmas facing global higher education.
2009 sees the addition of a series of management master classes focusing on the key challenges to top-level managers in a stratified Higher Education sector.
“We need to decide what a world-class HE system of the future should look like, what it should seek to achieve, and establish the current barriers to its development”
Rt. Hon. John Denham MP, speech to the Wellcome Collection announcing the HE Debate,
February 2008
