PROJECT MANAGER

This position is immediately available within the Production Team. The team is a good mixture of experience and fresh minds: these are the people who make reality of the researchers' policy ideas. They find, negotiate with and book venues; commission stages; supervise staff; approve and proof print runs; liaise with speakers and sponsors, and fulfill all the logistical requirements of over 150 high-profile conferences per year in an exciting and dynamic public policy environment.

The role includes:

  • Project management of conferences in all the sectors, including local government, health and social affairs, home affairs and criminal justice, and education.
  • Taking ownership and working proactively on your own events, liaising with the researcher, marketer and sponsorship salesperson to make each event a success.
  • Being responsible for and constantly monitoring the budgets for your own events, making commercial and financial decisions as well as logistical and organisational ones.
  • Discreet and efficient liaison with speakers at the highest level, including the most senior government, public sector and business figures.
  • Top level client and partner liaison on all aspects of the events which can include conferences, roundtables, dinners and receptions
  • Finding, negotiating with and securing appropriate venues, staging, AV and all suppliers.
  • Excellent time management skills. You must be a self-starter who can work supported, but unsupervised.
  • Reporting to Head of Production and the Senior Project Manager.

This is a demanding role combining organisational and production skills with excellent people skills on all sides: conference staff, peers, clients, and suppliers. We are happy to consider people from a venue background as well as the buyer side. A sound knowledge of UK, and especially London, venues would be an advantage. Transferable skills and experience will be considered.

The workload is full and seasonal and at the height of, for example, the autumn season you may be working on ten events at one time, all at different stages of development. It is exciting and hard work with great rewards and a wonderful sense of achievement.
